The human pancrease is situated near the curve of the duodenum, in the abdonimal cavity. It has a broad head, a body and a narrow tail.
It functions both as endocrine and exocrine glands. The exocrine part is made up of lobules ,each lobules consits of small alveoli like secreting cells.(acini cells) that secrete pancreatic juice.
Amylose, lipase, nucleases, tripsinogen and chymotripsinogen are the enzymes found in the pancreatic juice along with water and mineral salts.
Lobules drained by small ducts join together to form the pancreatic duct.
Istlets of Langerhans are the endocrine part, that consists of alpha and beta cells .Aplha cells secrete glucagon and beta cells secrete insulin.
